The Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) hosted the second conference of Japanese Studies Association in Southeast Asia (JSA-ASEAN) in Hanoi from 22 to 23 October 2009. The third conference is scheduled to be held in Kuala Lumpur in 2011.
JSA-ASEAN is an academic network of scholars and researchers set up in 2005 to serve as a catalyst in promoting and advancing Japanese studies in the region. One of the objectives of the association is to organize a biennial conference in the region as the major platform for a trans-disciplinary international exchange and networking among scholars working on Japan in Southeast Asia, as well as other parts of the world.
The association conference will enable scholars from the region and beyond to come together regularly to present their research, exchange new ideas and explore the many opportunities for collaborative research that exist.
The conference organizers especially encourage younger scholars to participate and will provide financial support on a competitive basis to help facilitate their participation.
The electronic proceedings for the second conference is now available.
